Joan received her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in 1999 and began practicing in southeastern Minnesota after graduation. She later worked as a staff therapist and Physical Therapy Supervisor for a combined total of six years before creating ActivePT.

She is actively involved in continuing education every year and has completed over 200 hours of additional education since graduating.

Joan's areas of specialty are shoulder rehabilitation with an emphasis on frozen shoulder syndrome and foot/ankle rehabilitation. Over 100 hours of her additional training are in the areas of examination and treatment of shoulder disorders.
