It is estimated that roughly 80% of adults in the US have been bothered by low back pain at some point in their life. Low
back pain can limit the ability to sleep, work, sit, walk, drive, and participate in social and recreational activities. Low
back pain has many different causes, ranging from overuse activities to poor body mechanics while sitting at the computer,
lifting, sleeping, or working. These movements cause strain on lower back muscles, ligaments, joints, and discs that support and
protect the spine. Low back pain can also be caused by weight gain, pregnancy, abdominal surgeries, and hernias, which can all
lead to decreased abdominal strength and weaker core stability. Without the necessary abdominal support, our back is left exposed
for injury.
Common causes of low back pain:
- Herniated disc
- Stiff Joint
- Arthritis (joint degeneration)
- Fractures
- Spinal deformities
- Vertebral defects (affect the vertebra's ability to slide over another)
- Severe scoliosis
