Surgery can be a scary, but necessary, thing. Some fear the rehabilitation afterward more than anything. Our caring and
compassionate staff help you understand the rehab process, encourage you along the way, and have the skills and expertise to
get you the best possible results from your surgery.
Enjoy the benefits of starting early rehab in our 88 degree pool, access to the fitness floor of the
Rochester Athletic Club
for use of the treadmills, exercise bikes, eliptical machines, for strength training after surgery, or for gently easing back
into activity with an indoor track to walk around.
Your therapist will help guide you through your rehabilitation program based on their experience and from advice from your
surgeon. If you have not yet had surgery, please notify us ahead of time. Our therapists have a close working relationship
with many area surgeons. If you choose, your therapist may even accompany you into surgery to be sure that the surgeon and
therapist tailor your rehab to the exact details of what occurred in surgery. This team approach ensures close communication
and yields the best results in the end.
Q: "Do I need a referral or a prescription to have my rehabilitation after surgery at ActivePT?"
A: No, you can call us directly. However, if you have had surgery, it is imperitive that the surgeon stay involved in your
care. For this reason, we will take care of the communication between the therapist and the surgeon to be sure you get the best
results. If you have any concerns or special requests, talk to your therapist about them on your first visit.
Q: "Do I have to do my therapy at the hospital or can I request to have it done at ActivePT?"
A: You have the right to choose your therapy provider, but keep in mind you will probably have to voice your
request. Otherwise, your appointment will likely be arranged for you at the hospital. Just ask your doctor for a copy of their
therapy recommendations and bring it with you to your appointment. Some doctors may fax us the recommendations directly.
Q: "Is there a long wait to get into therapy?"
A: No, we schedule our patients based on priority, not in the order they called. Those who just had surgery or are in severe pain
get first priority for appointments. We are happy to say that our patients who are on the latter end of their recovery are usually
willing to surrender their apointment time when an urgent situation arises
